Smart Irrigation Month

July is Smart Irrigation Month and a great reminder to evaluate outdoor water usage. Small changes like fixing broken sprinklers, watering in the evening, or using weather-based controllers and drip systems can help you keep your yard healthy while using less water.

Smart Irrigation Month

Small Steps Can Make a Big Difference!

  • Water at the Right Times

Irrigate between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. when evaporation rates are at the lowest point.
  • Check Sprinklers for Leaks

A broken sprinkler can waste about 2,500 gallons of water per month!
  • Avoid Water Run-Off

Irrigate slowly to allow water to soak into the ground.
  • Use a Broom to Clean Surfaces

Clean driveways and other surfaces using a broom instead of a hose.
  • Keep Grass at 2-4 Inches

Don't cut grass too short. Keep grass height at 2-4 inches to retain water in soil.
